| EPA’s Office of Research and Development (ORD) National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA) is seeking an internationally recognized scientific leader to fill its Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) Division Director position. The IRIS Division Director will have substantial hands-on involvement and participation in the scientific assessments and research of the staff. This position will be located in Arlington, VA. |
Major duties for this position include: Plans, directs, organizes, coordinates, and controls the efforts of the IRIS Division and reviews the scientific aspects of the IRIS program within overall objectives assigned to the Office by the National Center Director;
Provides scientific leadership for the IRIS Division and has substantial hands-on involvement and participation in the scientific assessments and research of the staff;
Serves as a leader in the development and oversight of an innovative, integrated chemical hazard assessment program that will incorporate a variety of scientific disciplines;
Communicates the results of IRIS assessments to partners within the Agency and to entities outside the Agency;
Serves as the responsible ORD official for formulating and guiding efforts directed toward broad-scale resolution of scientific problems in frontier areas which are of critical importance and major national concern in the area of environmental pollution and related risk assessment issues;
With regard to IRIS assessments, defines goals, develops program plans, establishes overall operating policies, priorities and procedures, initiates short and long-term projects, and recommends changes in program goals and policies to the National Center, to the National Program Director for Human health Risk Assessment (HHRA), and to ORD executive leadership.
